Company History

Rising Sun Construction was incorporated in 2001. The company’s initial focus was small private sector and municipal underground work. Rising Sun Construction has expanded into larger scale underground projects and various other projects with government agencies while still maintaining clientele from the past.

Rising Sun Construction is a certified Small Business Administration (SBA) 8A concern, Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) concern, Veteran Owned, Native American owned business, and is a member of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of North Dakota.

Scott Satermo
President/Owner

Scott Satermo has been in the construction industry since 1994. Scott has a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from North Dakota State University. Prior to ownership in Rising Sun Construction, Scott worked as a Civil Engineer for the City of Fargo, and project engineer for Harris Contracting of St. Paul. Scott is an enrolled member of the Mandan/Hidatsa tribes of North Dakota and is a veteran of the US Army and VFW member.

Guy Fox
Vice President/Project Manager

Guy Fox has been in the construction industry since 1995. Guy has a Bachelors degree in Construction Management from Minnesota State University Moorhead. Guy has worked in the building construction industry, as well as an operator, foreman, estimator and project manager in the underground industry. Guy is an enrolled member of the Mandan/Hidatsa tribes of North Dakota.

Barry Shaw
Project Manager/Superintendent

Barry Shaw has extensive experience in the construction industry having worked in the vertical drilling and underground industries for over 30 years. Barry has worked in all facets of underground from laborer to Vice President and owner of underground construction companies.

Carla Swenson
Controller

Carla Swenson has served as controller for Rising Sun Construction Inc. since 2003. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from North Dakota State University. Carla is a Certified Public Accountant and had 8 years experience in public accounting before joining our company. Carla is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Dakota Society of Certified Public Accountants.
